Was there ever a way to keep things just as they were even as they ended? Tk feel the piece of first override again, not because the puncture itself was repeated but because the memory could be stored somewhere, and never changed? Or were we doomed to always chock our centuries with sentiment or regret- to flatten them into narrative …… or my own book, which I was going to have to read from tonight.

Storytelling… through small memories of previous conversations had with others. I’ve been waiting 100 + pages to learn about this affair with a professor.. and in a memory about her ex… asking her about the book she’s writing.. (which is about her ex… art imitates life) in which she finally tells how it started. Messy….

All the memories we shared were ruinous. Tales of ways we’d hurt ourvelves or each other, acted out in front of strangers. As much as I loved to dwell in memory itself, I was suspicious of nostalgia. It was too good at holding you in that moment, staining everything , like an oil or a color.
