We continue the cowboy bebop arc. This level of patchwork in a standalone is so funny to me. In a way, this could have been multiple books with a strong theme per tome. Yet, it’s “just” one and of “standard” length. I like it. It’s filled with generosity, energy and trust.

What a ride! Cherry on top, the author is a fellow game designer. The world feels quite small sometimes. Anyway I will review this later. The end is “rushing” not “rushed”, it’s one last gift.

Don’t know the end yet but I got an epiphany about the visual I want to make out of this. Moon. Prayer. Sigil. I just note to not forget. Sadly I can’t trust my own mind (yet I write the most obscure cues ahaha)

That’s so interesting. Going against its own servitude as breaking oneself. At least from the predator pov. Even from the servants pov it is breaking. I mean you break out of your shackles, there is no shame in that. On the contrary there is a dignity that shouldn’t be accused of being irresponsible there.
Yes responsibility will come with autonomy… so ?
I don’t know it’s hard to describe my confusion…

Did I talk about the voices ? They are so nice, each character blends in nicely into each other. They are weaved in a sequence that strengthens the patchwork mood. Which works precisely because of the sharp tonal shift and peculiar voices. it feels a bit circular said like that but it’s deliberate. There is a virtuous cycle here, the narrative frames ensure specificity and synergy.

Well that was scary and very satisfying in the end.

Well technically guardians of the galaxy are a thing and so on, so not unexpected in 2026.
Somehow this doesn’t feel like that series to me who knows why.

This is like the origin story of your favourite crew of monsters in space.
Which for someone like me that grew up with stuff like captain future, Ulysse 31, captain harlock and so on is like a blessing that I wasn’t expecting to get in 2026.
(I’m not that old it comes from my parents)

Everyone is taking position and it’s about to go down.
But first this is a 4 minimum.
Anything that hints or makes me think about Van helsing or Castlevania is that.
That’s the rule of monster media and I don’t make the rules.
