Two Envelopes And A Phone’s Reviews > The Lesser Dead > Status Update

I’m loving it. The narrator is setting the tone, and it’s not the tone I was expecting - it’s fresh, which is great, because I don’t feel like I’m reading some vampire novel I already read, all over again. I don’t need ‘Salem’s Lot again, or Let the Right One In, or The Light at the End, or Vampire Junction, or The Vampire Tapestry, or The Golden. Something a bit different!

So I'm flashing back, a little, to The Light at the End - but (a) it's not like I have many clear memories of that book beyond a subway scene and lots of splatter, plus all very gritty urban, and (b) I can already tell this will be a different beast thanks to the narrator here. Seems like a winner. I'm definitely in the mood for vampires.

Okay, this and The Universe Between next…but A Clash of Kings is coming up soon, roaring up fast. Courtney at work will be slightly less peeved at me for delaying George R. R. Martin when I show her a vampire novel as my diversion.
