genuinely like this, so notes for future review:
- mc feels like a real character, not a sad waif / girlboss
- love that she has real flaws
- good writing of genuine anger
- wish we got more historical / political context for the first half of the book
- dislike how the pov switches at [spoilers], would have been stronger if we kept to close pov instead of swerving at pivotal moments, lessened emotional impact
