I thought how swiftly men, especially men-servants, became fools when in the presence of a woman.

There is nothing so defeating to ease of manner as being uncomfortably seated, and I wondered what sort of figure I must cut, hunched there in the damnable little chair, with my large feet tucked awkwardly beneath it and my long arms hanging down on either side of it.

Friday came all too soon. A moody, fitful sort of day, with gusts of wind. We often had them thus, the third week in September with the big tides of the year. The clouds were low, scudding across the sky from the southwest, threatening rain before the evening. I hoped it would rain. One of our true downpours, with maybe a gale thrown in for further measure. A west country welcome.

I've been so curious about this one, Julie. Every time I see someone reading it, my interest grows a little more. I'll be looking forward to hearing your thoughts when you finish it.
Cornwall can be a lovely place to watch the world go by or a place to document nature's fury. I cherish the time I have spent there and would like to find a further opportunity.
H,I'm green with envy, that you've been there in person. I have only "traveled" to Cornwall in books and shows. I'm hoping that Antoinette will take me with her, next time!
xoxo

The book, The Salt Path https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
while controversial provides a great deal of insight into various portions of Cornwall's perimeter, Julie. You might enjoy it.
