Oh, Misunderstandings, my favourite trope. The announcing of the engagement was perfect, the deceit and the banter between the underworld gods was engaging, and the conversation between Hacate and Persephone was a battle about the jaded and the repressed. Learning about different wedding traditions was intriguing and I am heartbroken for Persephone that Demeter did not attend her wedding.

Kore’s rejection of her name while claiming the title of Persephone, the chaos bringer, is a powerfully inspiring show of maturity and womanhood. The quote “Congratulations, Hades, you finally passed the minimum requirement for something” (Page 148) made me die of laughter. However, Hades proves to be a sweetheart and I adore Persephone growing bonds with the human souls. May marriage drama ensue.

Kore is a fierce heroine who makes you root for her (Flower pun intended) while Hades is a mysterious outcast who I suspect is a secret nerd and social innocent puppy. Styx is a comforting face in a sea of informality who is a massive girl boss for being willing to fight Hades after believing Kore to have been kidnapped. I am loving Kore struggle to help people in her new situation and cannot wait for her to succeed.
