They were crying because death is scary and uncomfortable and highlights certain things within ourselves that without the threat of mortality pressing in on our consciousness, we’d otherwise ignore, but those such things demand attention at a funeral. Mortality doesn’t just press against you, it body slams you to the floor

You do so want it to be raining on the day of a funeral, so wonderfully melancholy, and yet there we were, the church all lit up spectacular by the fucking ever bright sun, casting all of London’s high society in a glowy light that none of us deserve because light like this is reserved specifically and exclusively for my sister and BJ alone.

I think death brushes up against on everyone at some point or another, but it’s properly danced with me. Grabbed me by the hand, spun me, dipped me, taught me to waltz. I knew life through the prism of loss, secretly at first, but now it’s colored my world.

I turned on the shower and the room fogged up quickly because I suppose the world got colder the moment Bridget left it😭
