I tried 😭 but this book just was not for me. Between the repetitive drama, nonstop body shaming, frustrating characters, and weak payoff, I was more annoyed than entertained. The obsession with looks and degrading Joyce every other chapter got exhausting real fast 😕 I will not be continuing this series.

The way this story keeps describing Joyce you’d think she’s the most unfortunate-looking person alive 😭 meanwhile everybody else gets written with all this glamour and attention😒

At this point Joyce doesn’t need more “signs,” she needs a whole physical collision with the truth 😭 like a literal walk -into -the -wall moment because everything else is bouncing off her 👀

Joyce is starting to get frustrating 😕 It’s like she keeps choosing hope over reality even when the signs are loud and clear. At some point it stops feeling like innocence and starts feeling like she’s ignoring what’s right in front of her 👀...I want to shake the shit out of her 😩

Oh Dell is TRIFLING 😭 Now the side chick pregnant too?? This man spreading confusion and bad decisions all across the neighborhood 👀🍿

Everybody in this book seems obsessed with appearances 😭 who looks good, who looks respectable, who got the better house, better marriage, better body… meanwhile the actual lives behind those doors are a whole mess 👀 “One House Over” might as well be called Looks Can Lie at this point.

Joyce telling Dell she pregnant should’ve been a serious moment but with these messy people 😭 I already know this baby news about to turn into confusion, lies, and chaos next door 👀
