I feel strangely compelled to read, even though I don’t care about a single character.

This is a difficult book to get into. There’s a lot of casual use of unusual terminology with no explanation, excessive description in the form of lists, and a few too many lengthy monologues on motherhood (which I perhaps should have anticipated after reading the dedication).
