these are some very interesting archaeological and historical tidbits in these short chapters. Rather macabre some, others are a little amusing or just curiosities. Like the Roman solider who was a slow-death sacrifice after the Teutoburgerwald Battle, or the glass dildo found in the remains of a medieval cloister!

Some of these articles are culturally quite interesting, like the tradition of using metal balls on the tops of churches as time capsules. Others are kinda gross/bizarre like the tradition that drinking the flowing warm blood of a freshly decapitated criminal could cure epilepsy. (Guess who brought their own glasses to executions? How vampiric!)
