Sure I should explore other books and writers but nothing else scratches the itch. Avoided reading this solely because I couldn’t find a copy without that awful cover. I haven’t really kept the goodreads updated but I’ve been reading a LOT of Pynchon. Since reading Gravity’s Rainbow last year I felt none of his writing really approached that level. Very early to call but this rivals it. Breathtaking start.

The cover on my goodreads is not the awful cover I’m talking about. The copies in print today are vague and ugly. I’m not spending new book money on an eye sore. Worth the wait because I got a gorgeous 1963 edition for a dollar!
