there is quite a bit of overlap between russian and spanish in terms of vocabulary, not as much as between spanish and other romance langs ofc, but still, nice to know. :D

I had no idea about that, do you study languages? And, no, cartas just means cartas JAJAJAJA but you can say "jugar a las cartas" which means literally "play cards"... but well a "carta" is also the menu in restaurants.

ACTUALLY. I checked it out in the RAE and it says that carta in spanish is also used to say "map" lmao, so yes its the same as in russian, but i don't think it's as used

That's so interesting, love that, especially if it's to read in the original language !! Tbh I was trying to read more in Spanish, bc I started reading mostly books in english (bc romantasy in Spanish made me cringe) and since I studied law, I feel like I have to be very well spoken, and if I read in English for too long, I start making up words that doesn't exist in Spanish because I can't remember the correct one 💀. But I've been having seconds thoughts in regards to reading translated y/a books or stuff like that, bc I've seen a lot of people complain that the quality of the translation is very poor and that it seems like they use AI these days. I don't like that JAJAJAJ. But anyways im reading Brandon Sanderson till the end of times it seems, so it's fine because the translation for his books to Spanish are, in my opinion, very good.

And yes we use mapa for map, that's the only definition it has in Spanish
