I have neglected gangster novels lately, because I have been watching mainly gangster and Crime films, when I put a movie on. Trying to watch a hundred in a row; recently re-watched Point Blank, The Usual Suspects, Lucky Number Slevin, and Made; watched Little Odessa for the first time, planning to check out City of God, and Rififi soon, re-watch Out of Sight, and so on. This book seems to fit right in.
