This is a heavy, heavy book but a good example of loving someone like Christ loves and of loving someone through their trauma. By the end of the defiance section I had to sit and stare at the ceiling for a little while. This book is great at writing scenes that leave you feeling melancholy and shocked.

That was a heavy, heavy prologue. It goes through Sarah/Angel’s childhood and by the last sentence I was struck with a deep sadness and shock. Definitely makes you want to keep reading.
