Swords in the Mist (3/10): The first half consists of loosely connected stories - some of which I liked more, some less. The second half of the book is made up of one long(er) story set in our world, albeit with some magical elements. Overall, this book was pretty boring and the characters were shadows of their former selves.

Swords Against Wizardry: A huge improvement over the third book, this book consists of two loosely connected longer stories - both with a very strong sense of place, albeit one is about a mountain and the other about the underground kingdom. The plots are solid, and the characters varied (ones in Quarmall reminded me at times of Gormenghast) - albeit inconsistent - and I liked the humor.

SwordsAgainstDeath: We continue to follow our heroes in more loosely connected stories. While this is deliciously pulp, I find myself wishing for more consistent characterization. Oh well. 6/10

Swords and Deiltry: It's like reading a script for a comic. Like Prince Valiant, but with two morally ambiguous heroes instead of one. While some of the tropes are, indeed, *old as time* (no wonder, this being one of the first works to use them), I enjoyed this book - albeit the origin stories are a bit obsolete. 8/10
