Great book for anyone that wants to understand Turkish nationalism in depth. Ayşe Kadıoğlu is another author's take on Turkish nationalism through an orientalist approach and gender equality. Though shes from Metin Heper's camp.

A great book on the origins and rise of Turkish nationalism and how paradoxical Turkish nationalism is. The first 3 chapters elaborates on how the Ottoman millet system, decline of the Ottoman Empire, Balkan Wars, European inter-wars, CHP nationalist policies and Kemalism accelerated and shaped Turkish Nationalism.
