Ask which object has changed women's lives the most, half the table (at a dinner party) will shout, "the typewriter!"

(Really?! 🤔)

Samantha Rainman I think the development of the Pill made a huge impact on the lives of woman.

Care Hi! Sorry - accidentally deleted your comment- ooops. Yes! I would have guessed the same: but the book doesn't discuss anything but the typewriter!! (in this 3 page 'essay')

Samantha Rainman That is insulting! And the book is written by a woman!!! Grrr.

Care It's a rather irreverent collection of tidbits of stuff that gives examples of how persecuted women have been and/or how awesome women are, etc etc but each chapter is very short and dare I say 'glib' - just enough to want to explore more. I just thought this bit on the typewriter was... odd. I can't count how many times the phrase "not for nothing" is used throughout the book!
