@marcos, if you’re still looking for a Spurrier work without an unreliable narrator, this isn’t the solution.

Marcos But is it good? (I love unreliable narrators) Oh, and drop everything, find a library and buy a copy of Liv Strömquist's book I just read.

Bene Vogt Hmm, how does prose crossbred between Paulahniuk and Ellroy sound to you?

Marcos Never read Pahlaniuk in heathen but I always loved Ellroy even during his most glaringly self-indulgent phase.

Bene Vogt Are you sure? The last two Ellroys I’ve read were fucking terrible, and THIS STORM was so bad he abandoned his own harebrained transitional third Trilogy.
Anyway, the prose is an attempt at Ellroy’s rhythm with Paulahniuk’s gross out style and is probably highly subjective on how well it works. I’m about 50 pages from the end and unlikely to really recommend it.

Marcos That's sad, I really like Spurrier's comics

re: Ellroy, tbh the last book of his I've read might be twenty years old and have not come back since he had that ugly attack of oldmanitis in the early 00s? When he decided licking Reagan corpse's perineum was the contrarian thing of the week to do.

I got tired of his look at me bullshit, basically.
