I’m really enjoying this book- it’s just tough to get through since it’s so dense. The Vatican, whether it likes it or not, is inextricably linked to Italy’s government and economy. Given that, this book basically covers all of the Vatican AND Italy’s financial, political, and religious history since just before the crusades.
