I could have read Lettre au père in its French édition, but the topic is very sensitive to me. And I have to admit without shame - I need a language that does not expose me. Speaking about Kafka in French feels like speaking about myself too directly. English gives me a thin layer of anonymity, or neutral.
It lets me approach the text sideways, without the emotional transparency that French forces on me.

Once again, a strange coincidence.
I never would have imagined that I could have so much in common with Kafka, even when it comes to the very theme of this book. It takes me back
more than three decades ago..

Only you could have written something so deep and beautiful at the same time, Celeste. Three lines as three chapters...
Merci beaucoup. I know you will succeed.

I see what you mean. You’ll write your review in English as well, and I’ll try to catch its French undertone between the lines.
Merci.
