Also, if the god of the mountain is a woman- what makes you think men are at all welcome if women aren’t? Men being welcome but not woman makes the least sense.

I feel like a lot of these stories would make for nice short animated films.

I don’t know what the evidence is, but automatically believing all looting must have been done by foreigners is pretty xenophobic of the media. Common cultural practice is not fixed, so just because opportunism is popularly frowned upon in a society does not make it inconceivable that members of that society took part in the wrongdoing. Even in the most well mannered societies, there will always be bad actors.
