I like the focus on color. On how holding more breath seems to strengthen senses. The power system feels immediately understood after the prologue, with the main gimmick seeming to be that people raise “Lifeless” legion [inanimate objects turned living thru Breath and color].
I would like to see if I can pinpoint the themes of the book. Right now, purpose/importance seems central. Upsetting status quo.

The thing I enjoy the most about this book is the intrigue surrounding the Pagan religion of the Iridescent Tones (the religion of Hallandren/T’Telir) and how the Returned gods fit into the theism. Certain characters stand out to me: Denth might be my favorite, I actually really like his character interactions, I like Siri, Bluefingers, etc. Lightsong’s dialogue can be funny, but I’m sick of the fucking quips!
