Chapter 20 is good as Caddie starts to work through what life is about. Never enjoyed this book as a kid bc of Caddie’s wild escapades with her brothers (who also seem to have no responsibilities?), but I also don’t appreciate Annabelle, Clara, and Mother’s airs and prissy priorities. Mother’s injustice in chapter 21 is a lot; she and Father need to get on the same page—not keep Caddie caught in the middle.

Reading with H, 3rd grade; don’t remember enjoying this as a child, but I’ve had plenty of happy surprises after trying things again with H :-)
