yeah hes a very conversational and congenial writer, the heidegger stuff is mostly in the background and doesnt come in oftern, i think hes very good at explicating his ideas. though the first 300 pages are a historical survery first of taste/ german idealist art and then historical science in the 19th century which is a bit much but its interesting. i finished the actual book but now all theres left is supplements and the afterword
