I really enjoyed it. You don’t often see Persian inspired fantasy settings, so I was very very happy. It did take awhile to get going, but it was worth it. I’ll miss the characters, especially Soraya whose indecision I feel greatly. Shamhar was a great villain too, my god. I want to read more by this author. I appreciated her afterword explaining the inspirations, too! Now, what to read next.

Ah, so he thinks he loves her. I doubt that. As I said, he is not capable of it. But maybe Im harsh. I suppose in his own way, he loves her. But maybe now is the chance she needs to end him. We’ll see

Ah so Parvaneh has a horse in this race too. She created Shamhar and now must end. I do so love entangled storylines. This is delectably good. I am eating well

Damn Soraya really cant catch a break. She escapes to free the pariks and then has to go right back into the fire to get the simorgh feather back. Poor thing.

I dont think Shamhar is capable of love. He only covets. The throne and Soraya both. He has desire but no love behind it.

Yeah Shamhar doesnt care about Soraya. It’s just about getting even for him. Ah if only Tahmineh had spoken the truth. But I suppose there’d be no story then. Im really interested to see how Soraya fixes it.

Ughhhh the Shamhar has won. But there has to be a way to fix this. Fuck. Oh Soraya. Poor thing. Manipulated and used, and yet Im sure not-Azad will call it love. Ugh.

I think Parvaneh knows who Azad is. Well, I’m sure shit will hit the fan soon.
