unpopular opinion (?): but I dnf a book if the mmc's entire personality and pov is about the female lead. like does this man not have his own goals and ambitions? his own problems and emotions? hobbies he enjoys? other friends and family. it just pisses me off because how did the fmc fall in love with him in the first place if he has no personality? especially in a fantasy like you're literally in a battle why are you thinking about how pretty she is? it just feels so fake to me. and this obsession is always one sided. why isn't she as in love with him as he is with her? we yearn for mmcs with personalities.

my unpopular opinion might be uh really unpopular dont hate me guys but lauren roberts had a lot of potential to be a good writer and powerless couldve been a really good book if it wasn't plagiarized. she wrote a plagiarized book and thats her fault bc you should never do that but imo like i blame her for plagiarizing but part of me understands that at 18 your cognitive ability is not fully developed and if you're self publishing you probably just wrote a book for fun. HOWEVER after the book blew up and was picked up by traditional publishing by then she wouldve fully understood like what was happening and the content of her book so i blame her now. but i dont blame her 18 yr old self that first wrote the book if that makes sense. thats just my opinion on it but imo there are some extremely amazing teen authors who have enough common sense to not blatantly plagiarize (like maryam you all should see her book omg the most creative and original thing ever i love it)

@minnie WOW YOU REALLY SAID UNPOPULAR LMAO 😭 I kind of disagree because she admitted to using ai to make her sentences longer and to make them sound more poetic. she has ideas yes, despite these ideas being plagiarised, I believe that Lauren loves to read and she wrote what she loves to read, which she has every right to do so. but she shouldn't have published it or accepted that publishing deal when she knows that her work is plagiarized. but I do agree with the second part when you blamed her and said she should understand the consequences of plagiarizing especially since the book got picked up by a publishing company. her being 18 isn't an excuse like you mentioned that there are so many teen authors who are aware that they shouldn't plagiarize. omg thank you so much I love u 🥹 I updated a lot I need to show you !! 💋

heated rivalry is extremely overrated (jj and rory pls marry me) audiobooks count as reading, all books have the potential to be adapted into some sort of film but it's definitely not successful 100% of the time, off campus> heated rivalry, the rose bargain is underrated and should've won a gr award, i should be allowed to rate my dnfs if i make it past 50%, etc. 💋

@margot yes audiobooks do count as reading as long as you're consuming the words you did read it. I do agree with the adaptation opinion but if the adaptation isn't properly executed then it shouldn't be released. I didn't watch or read or read either to form an opinion 😭 YESYESYES LOUDER FOR THE ROSE BARGAIN. you should be allowed to rate your dnfs no matter how far you're into the book you did technically consume it and maybe you hated it because of the writing and you gave the writing a bad rating so you should be allowed to rate dnfs.

I agree! there are so many mm hockey books. it doesn't matter who writes them it matters who picks them up and makes an adaptation. he's on my tbr so I'll have to get back to you on that when I read his books! but I haven't heard that opinion about him before. I haven't watched or read heart stopper 😔 but I've never heard that opinion before since people usually have nothing but praise for the show and books. YESYESYYES!! they don't do retellings well and steer them away from the actual plot. (yes im referencing tvd I hate that book it wasn't a Romeo and Juliette retelling at all it was just called that for the sake of marketing. the Odessy is on my tbr because I want to watch the movie so I can't form an opinion or speak on that either 😔
