Finished the Haunting of Hill House — 5 ⭐️ As much as I love The Haunting 1999 movie version, I understand why Flanagan’s Netflix series was not well received by book lovers. The book is not about the Haunting itself, it’s about Eleanor’s isolation, rejection, no home/family, and being reduced to a stereotype when her psychological trauma takes over. It’s deep read of the soul’s need for belonging.
