Now the story is about how Hawkeye and Uncas will escape from the Hurons. I thought it would be over, but I guess there’s still going to be more to this story somehow.

The rescue was a success, but Hawkeye being able to perfectly act like a bear is just downright absurd.

I’m sorta confused about what’s happened in the native village. I know Heyward couldn’t find Alice, but I’m not sure why he’s taking care of a sick woman or what happened in the tent with the native chief. Uncas seems like he’s not going to make it, but I feel like Hawkeye and Chingachgook made some sort of plan to rescue him.

I guess I understand how they found the trail at this point, but I do think it’s a little unrealistic. Now Heyward has to try to convince the enemy that he’s friendly to them and somehow use that to help him free Alice. I’m not sure how he plans to do that.

Maybe I misunderstood this section, but are they just not going to rescue David and the sisters? The plan to sail across the lake doesn’t seem to help them do that.

Was the debate about heaven added because one of the party is going to die?

I was put off from my original assumptions by the events that happened before this section, but now it looks like I was right before. I find somewhat hard to believe that Hawkeye and the Mohicans could determine that Cora was the one who escaped, but I guess it’s possible.

I wasn’t expecting them to hand over the fort to Montcalm, and I also wasn’t expecting the book to have lengthy sections entirely in French. Turns out my French classes were pretty useful lol

After trekking through the woods again, and after finding a place to rest, the party managed to successfully hide from the Iroquois. I think that they’ll either make it to the English camp or they’ll be attacked again and one of the Mohicans will die to complete the book title.

I was actually surprised that they all survived getting captured. I was expecting somebody to sacrifice themselves or something sad to happen, but it never did.
