Mrs. Todd’s Shortcut - I liked this one even thought it was a little boring in the beginning with all the talk about roads. Like I barely know the roads near me, but I did enjoy getting drawn in by the mystery of what were these roads she was taking and why was it so unnatural.

Cain Rose Up - a little unsettled by this short story, it’s probably because of the theme of school shootings.

The Monkey - I think the story was the main reason I got the book. I’ve seen posters for the movie and it just made me curious as to what it was about. The story was very well written and had an ominous feel to it. I did like the ending and how it was more resolved than the mist.

Here There Be Tygers - An even shorter story, about a third grader who encounters a tiger in the bathroom (basement). The short story you can’t be so sure that it was real, but a kid and perhaps the teacher go missing after investigating what’s taking him so long.

The Mist - It was a good fast paced story that I enjoyed. Throughout the story you see people do some stupid shit but I liked how the narrator (David) understood how people were doing it because they were confused, fearful, and wanting a sense of control over a situation that was mysterious to everyone.
