This book also reminds me of Marilynne Robinson’s Gilead — it seems written from a theological perspective or Christian ethos that holds suffering/sin in one hand and grace/goodness in the other. Very nice so far.

Enjoying this read so far. Reminiscent of Updike, Cheever, Styron — I don’t quite know which, or why each author is coming to mind. Feels like a trip back in time, too. Simpler, small-town America.
