I've never read Bernard Cornwell before. Would you recommend him?

Cheers Pia. I would definitely recommend his long series on the Saxons (13 books) for you entitled The Last Kingdom. It has a lot of everything. The Netflix series is also very well done. As it happens the first book is free right now if you have Kindle Unlimited. That series with its broad scope would definitely have a strong appeal. But it is a rugged series honest about life and warfare in those days of Vikings and the early English ⚔️ 🔥

Thanks, Murray! Vikings and early English history are definitely tempting. I'm not sure I'm brave enough to commit to thirteen books just yet, but you've certainly made me curious about The Last Kingdom.

Jumping in to say both the show and book of The Last Kingdom are fantastic. I absolutely adore the first few seasons of the show. The writing and acting are fantastic! I hope you enjoy it, Pia!
