whelp i saw on the conversation about how this was apparently a classic and thought, hey, that sounds familiar but i've never read that. anyhow. currently reading the history section and it's wild! back in the 40s and 50s it seemed so EASY to start a business with hardly any money. all these big multinationals started out as small businesses owned by one or two people. maybe it's obvious but i didn't know that

get this. ray croc donated a $250k to nixon who then passed the 'mcdonalds bill' which let employers pay junior rates below minimum wage. (so that's where it started!) if you think this is influence peddling then kroc considers you a 'son of a bitch'. he seems so self-interested and slimy
