Just finished reading the letters in front of chapter one. I’m wondering who the writer of them is exactly to the story and who this stranger is that he takes on board.

The writing style is beautiful and vivid, and in the last few letters, I see a parallel of the captains story with that of the stranger. Or at least: the stranger hints at a parallel. Curious for more!
