The story is based heavily on Japanese folklore and according to it there are trees (Jubokko) that originated on battlefields by absorbing the blood of fallen warriors. And it traps any passing humans and drains them

The authors only did their research on mythology but still I have never heard of such thing before!! And the cover is gorgeous indeed!!

I don't think these books have been translated. And the trees only appeared in one trial, so I doubt they'll be mentioned again. But there's a lot of Japanese culture and mythology woven throughout the story
