Whilst giving a compelling storyline with thought provoking moments elements of the storytelling are complexing. At times Galgut takes repeats himself far too much, does every paragraph need to have 5 sentence fragments for that to be your style? And the narration occasionally self-referencing is quite confusing, 99% no mention of a narrator and then a slide “trust me” is rather confusing.
