the anecdotes about dave are killing me 😭 like yes, of course he was the brother who got in trouble for sending a love letter in school and the only way his teachers could get him to shape up was by pretending like they were going to read the letter at an in-school assembly the next day LMFAOOOOOOO

while the biography *is* about ray (and includes ample material about said life, legacy, and artistry), dave is such a interesting character in ray’s life (both as a brother and an colleague). seeing little bits of him loosely interwoven in ray’s story is so fascinating. it really highlights the contrast between the two. it never ceases to amaze me how different ray and dave are despite growing up in the same family and in the same house. it makes them all the more intriguing to me.
