Western NC, 1918. Who would pour the cornbread batter into a baking dish? Yes, Laurel did. I can’t suspend disbelief for that. My NC (and WV) relatives -today- use cast iron skillets and those babies are handed down. Not the first ‘um, wait-a-minute’ moment I’ve had with this story.
