I have a real bone to pick with the way young girls are purposely kept so ignorant of their own bodies in the church. It's not the purity indicator pwople seem to think, as it's nearly directly equivalent to future abuse in her life. The statistics about girls who have been kept ignorant and in the bondage of Purity culture disproportionately growing up to marry abusers is horrifying.

Do I have daughters? No. So why am I reading a parenting book? Because I still interact with lots of young women and these topics matter! If you grew up evangelically, or "in the church," I highly encourage you to read any of Shelia's books if they are appropriate for your season of life. Too many of these teachings are in the water and handled incredibly poorly with lasting effects, but Sheila's work goes a long way
