I can’t stand Guy. I CANNOT STAND HIM. And Yakimov is the least tolerable character I’ve had the displeasure of reading about since Crime and Punishment defeated me three years ago. I found myself relieved by Clarence’s presence, since at very least he wasn’t as stupid as Guy, nor as pig-headed as Yakimov. But he’s still wrapped up in his own misunderstandings like everyone else in this book.
