need more of this style of book (vignettes of multiple bands that tell there story and make a point about a larger issue). The green day chapter was okay but he didn't have any firsthand sourcing, but Jawbreaker had some interviews from the guys and made it feel more complete (and sad)

Eloise Galaise what the hell are you saying

alexander at the drive in (2000s emo adjacent group) was going to be seen as the future of alternative music (post hardcore; rock music with more complex arrangements and topics). the band broke up because of nu metal fans (Limp bizkit, korn, suburban metal, yelling about nothing, rap influences) who ran on stage and beat the shit out of everyone at a festival. The breakup led to labels deciding not to push more of the sound forward, instead opting for things like the strokes and the white stripes (music that harkens back to the 70s, in my prejudiced opinion, reactionary music, cock rock that is often kind of mid).

Hope this helps! I know you care so much!
