absolutely amazing so far. I don't like most military science fiction, but I am enjoying this book so far, not for the action, and not for the horror (and there's a lot of horror to this first-contact story, but like the militaryness, the horror is not fetishized), but for the situationally-appropriate investigation of "choice," "soul," and the universal, immutable rules of physics and morality. WOW! WOW! WOW!
