I love travel parts in historical novels (in this case it’s a flashback, but it has the same effect). That feeling of dealing with the unknown, being far from everyone you know, and about to face a new dynamic filled with fear and anxiety. It’s the kind of cliché that really gets me, but it makes the reading really enjoyable, and I thought her goodbye with her sisters was really sweet.
