Overall, another great series by Meng Xi Shi, she just knows how to write compelling main characters, political aspects and apparently great mysteries as well. I loved all the investigations they did throughout the series. And FengCui, the most unique couple I've ever read about, kudos. I want more

Cui Buqu and Feng Xiao must be the most unique couple I've ever read about. Everything they do is a way to one-up each other, reading about them is infinitely enjoyable 😆

Now Tu'an Qinghe became an interesting character (actually he was from the beginning), and it seems like there's so much more to this story, but this is the end. Is there another sequel?

Finally, Cui Buqu wins by making Feng Xiao admit his feelings first. These two just can't stop playing the game, ever 😆

So in the end it wasn't even Feng Xiao who saved him. I love when compelling villains get satisfying endings.
Cui Buqu, I wish you luck. If you don’t make it, come keep me company in death. We can duel to our hearts’ content in the underworld.

The first time I cried reading this series, and its for Xiao Lü giving his life to Cui Buqu 😭
This is how you know a villain is written well, when they can make you cry with their final acts

I love love love when enemies work together, but I know it's gonna go downhill very soon. I at least want Xiao Lü to go out on his own terms, he deserves that much

I'm thinking Xiao Lü didn't use the jade at all, otherwise why would he still be sick? Or maybe it didn't work on him. I wonder if he'll give it to Cui Buqu instead to save his life, because I don't see how else Cui Buqu can survive.

I'm literally just procrastinating, I don't wanna finish this series yet, I have less than 100 pages left 😫
