Insightful & challenging, though personally I think Owen is at his best when he wrestles with Scripture. His analysis of sin and its effects in human experience rests on medieval scholastic faculties of the soul, namely, intellect, volition and emotion. These categories enable him to be clear in his analysis of sin & its remedy in the gospel. The effect is - I find I have to grant him certain assumptions charitably.
