I will probably try and finish this book, but it has been a disappointment.

That part of the world is so fascinating and I am sure it has so many great stories. Frankopan has not really given me an imaginative walk down the silk road or captured my attention with great characters and tales.
It is written only on the level of modernist socio-political history and with a pronounced left-liberal bias.
