I’ve been breezing through this. There are some messed up acts of violence but ironically it adds to that need for survival and finding a purpose to live for despite all the chaos. There have been some great moments for a lot of characters to demonstrate their resolve as they contemplate on their decisions and why they’re made. This is much more faithful to what made Lonesome Dove so good.

I’ve been blown away by the writing so far, we got the cool Texas Ranger exploits from Dead Man’s Walk while brining back the larger cast and the introspective narration. The chapters here have already set up most of the subplots in Lonesome Dove so I’m curious where the rest of the book is gonna go. I’m really happy with the quality so far and will definitely breeze through the rest
