finally done!! It felt like forever. This is such a frustrating read. The characters are so complicated, and the world is so rich with magic, I really love it. However, I hate what happens to them! If she has the chance for something devastating to happen its gonna happen! Emotions were rough for me during this read. I'm happy its over but it ended in such an unsatisfying way bc nothing was resolved,

I think the liveships and serpents used to be dragons. and I think the rain wild people ARE TURNING INTO DRAGONS

I haven't even mentioned the liveships but they unsettle me so much! if my ship said I should find another ship if I value my life, oh boy im jumping off. Poor Vivacia and poor Paragon. The liveships are such a mystery. And I hate Kyle!!!!! Horrible man. omg I haven't even mentioned Kennit, good grief this book has too many characters. Kennit is hilarious to me bc he is such a bad person, but people think he's great

All the adults piss me off and I wish there were some happy moments, but we really are given nothing! It is an adult's responsibility to protect children, even if they are acting STUPID. Malta is a CHILD and I feel sicken to even think about what her character journey is going to be in the other books. And poor WINTROW I just want to cry over him, men can be so cruel

How do I explain that this is such an excellent book with compelling characters, but I never want to read it again? I feel so deeply for all the characters, but their choices make me want to shake them! I didn't even realize that there is basically no overarching plot because I was so distracted by the family drama.

Chapter 21: this series is so much more graphic than the first (intimate and violent scenes). It's really off-putting because nothing positive has happened and it's been 400 pages. I'm afraid that these characters were just made to suffer. She writes such compelling characters, but I really need happy moments to give me hope.

chapter 13: Althea picked a serpent's egg, ohhh wonder what will happen with that? I have no idea what will happen in this book

oh Paragon is going to break my heart. I didn't know he was blind!!!! Can him, Brashen and Althea sail together??
