i think i last read this when i was 10?? which is a shame because the themes of western imperialism really went over my head and it’s clear that marjane was very critical of the us, the British AND the 1979 revolution. really interested in getting to bottom of the reza shah’s “sympathy” to the Germans in the 1930s that’s crazy and i wanna know what she meant there
