Decision: I do not like how the cis people in this story treat Piper.

See there's this bit where Piper has firmly decided what to do, and is full of resolve, right? And she comes home to find the door open and just goes 'gee wonder who she ate this time'? It would hit a lot harder if she hadn't been rolling her eyes and saying 'lol quirky' all book.

How cool is Josh, if he's not allowed the t-slur pass but tries anyway...........

"Hey, you kissed the corpse!" Miffed that this novel beat me to the necrophilia joke...

I guess the flesh-eating puts this less in conversation with Imago or Cassandra After and more with This Delicious Death. Which is cool too.

Alright, so the socially awkward is going for pathos. I feel a few ways about it.

I don't think this book has very serious politics, either. Not that it needs to be a new manifesto, but it's a lot of yapping about white supremacists and crypto and such. Feels like the throughline is "no objectionable stances".

There are so many instances of the word "vibes" in this...

Thinking about it, this is actually structured a lot like Our Wives Under the Sea...
