Greater works have been written about the hollowness of centrism and being a-political, but there’s quite a few passages that managed to illustrate what Ishiguro was reaching at here. The passage with his father dying and not batting an eye made me so angry and obviously Miss Kenton’s approaches play tragi-comic.
